A Few Good Men

1.  American Beauty - Winning the Academy Award for best picture in 1999, American Beauty is a must see.  The acting, led by a teriffic performance from Kevin Spacey, drives an amazing storyline.  With lines like "This is me jerking off in the shower...this will be the high point of my day,"  this is my favorite movie.  I am not a freak, just watch the movie, you'll love it.

2.  The Godfather part II - The Godfather part II in my opinion tops The Godfather.  I love the young Robert De Niro playing a young Vito Corleone.  Many film critics claim this film is the greatest film ever made.

3.  The Godfather - The Godfather may be the greatest movie ever made.  Starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, along with many other notables, The Godfather won the Academy award for best picture and best actor (marlon brando) in 1972.  Many critics believe this is the greatest film ever made.  If you have never seen this movie come get it.

4.  Schindler's List - A Steven Spielberg masterpiece documenting Oskar Schindler's involvement in the Holocaust.  The greatest Holocaust movie ever made.  You will not be more shocked and awed or touched by any other movie you will ever see.  Best Picture 1993.

5.  Saving Private Ryan - Another film by director Steven Spielberg.  May be the most accurate war movie ever made.  You will not believe the gruesomeness of war until you see a man carrying his arm across Omaha Beach on D-Day in the opening scene of war.  Nominated for best picture in 1998.  Won 5 Academy Awards.

6.  Casino - Directed by Martin Scorsese.  A film that documents the rise and fall of the mafia in Las Vegas.  Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone in rolls they were made to play.

7.  Pulp Fiction - Quentin Tarantino's best work in my opinion.  Nominated for best picture in 1994.  Pulp Fiction is about two hitmen, a fixed fight, drugs, robbery, and the overall goodness of man.

8.  Good Will Hunting - Led by Matt Damon and best supporting actor Robin Williams, the movie is about a 20 year old janitor with a photographic memory and a genious intellect with a horrible past.  This is the only film containing Ben Affleck that I like.

9.  Kill Bill (vol 1 & 2) - Tarantino's 4th film starring Uma Thurman as a woman who vows revenge on the people who tried to kill her.  Some would argue with me that this is Tarantino's best work.  It's debatable.  Volume one is straight up action showing Uma Thurman Kick some serious ass, and volume 2 makes the story all come together.

10.  Mystic River - A film nominated for best picture in 2003 that is carried by its tremendous acting.  Best actor Sean Penn, and best supporting actor Tim Robbins star in a murder mystery linking three childhood friends together.

11.  LOTR The Return of the King - Winner of best picture of 2003 The Return of the King put the final chapter onto the greatest trilogy ever made.  Return of the King won 11 Academy Awards and should be seen by everyone.

12.  Braveheart - Winner of best picture and best director (Mel Gibson) in 1995, Braveheart is a true story of the Scottish uprising against the British to gain their freedom.  Mel Gibson stars as William Wallace.

13.  Goodfellas - Goodfellas was nominated for best picture in 1990.  Directed by Martin Scorsese, Goodfellas is about 30 years of the mafia in New York.  Best Supporting actor Joe Pesci.

14.  LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring - The first chapter in the greatest trilogy ever brought to the big screen. A fantasy story about hobbits and wizards in the fantasy land of middle earth.

15.  Forrest Gump - Forrest Gump won just about every major academy award in 1994.  Best picture, best actor (Tom Hanks), and best director.  It is a movie about how a mentally challenged kid grew into a successful adult..

16.   The Usual Suspects - Kevin Spacey plays a cripple being interrogated about a "drug heist".  Best supporting actor Kevin Spacey.

17.  Gangs of New York - A Martin Scorsese picture documenting the state of gangs in New York City during the time leading up to and during the Civil War.  A large load of academy award nominations.

18.  LOTR The Two Towers - The middle chapter of the greatest trilogy ever brought to cinema.

19.  Rounders - The movie that feuled my love for Texas Hold 'em.  Starring Matt Damon and Edward Norton as two guys who get in trouble and need to make money fast playing poker.  I've seen this movie more than I've seen any other movie in my collection.  "I am up 20 grand from the last time I stick it in you (pelvic thrusts)."

20.  Ocean's Eleven - A star studded cast including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Matt Damon, and others.  This is a movie about eleven con men trying to rip off a Las Vegas Casino.

21.  American History X - Edward Norton stars as a neo nazi turned good, trying to convince his brother that racism and hate is wrong.  This movie will knock you on your ass.

22.  Scarface - Al Pacino stars in this 1980s thriller about a refugee from Cuba making his way up the ranks of drug lord in America.  "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!"

23.  The Matrix - A great movie in itself.  Sci fi thriller starring Keanu Reeves about a mechanically engineered world, and the human attempts to save it.  A movie that never should have become a trilogy.

24.  Rocky - This boxing classic won best picture in 1976.  Sylvester Stallone stars in the one roll that he can actually play.  No named boxer Rocky Balboa gets an unexpected heavyweight title fight against undefeated champion Apallo Creed.

25.  The Bourne Identy - Matt Damon stars in this action packed movie about a super trained member of the american military forgetting his identity and surviving attempts on his life.

26.  American Pie - Classic comedy portraying four friends' attempts to get layed before they go to college.

27.  American Pie 2 - Sequal to the classic comedy portraying four friends' attempts to get layed.

28.  L. A. Confidential - A star studded cast including Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Kim Basinger, and Danny DeVito, a movie about the controversy and murder mystery in the LAPD.

29.  Primal Fear - One of the coolest movies not many people know about.  Richard Gere and a young Edward Norton star in a story about how defense attorney Martin Vail (Gere) tries to prove Aaron Stampler (Norton) did not kill a major member of the catholic church.

30.  Signs - Mel Gibson stars in this M. Night Shyamalan flick about human reaction to a possible and eventual alien invasion.

31.  Se7en - Brad Pitt heads a star studded cast in murder mystery movie.  A killer kills people based on the seven deadly sins.  Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey are also in the movie.

32.  Catch Me if You Can - Leonardo Dicaprio makes his first and currently only appearance on my list as a 17 year old con artist being tracked down by FBI agent Tom Hanks.  Directed by Steven Spielberg.

33.  Fight Club - A normal guy (Edward Norton) meets risk taker Tyler Derden (Brad Pitt) on a plane and changes his life.  They set up a soap factory, an underground fight ring, and eventually start terrorizing.

34.  The Contender - Political thriller about the succession of the Vice President and the controversy around the person the president appoints.  Starring Jeff Bridges and Joan Allen.

35.  Gladiator - Gladiator won best picture and best actor (Russell Crowe) in 2000.  A leader of the roman army is banished and bought as a gladiator.  His goal is to make it back to Rome to kill the emporer.

36.  Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade - Indiana Jones has to rescue his father and find the Holy Grail.  Starring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.

37.  The Rock - Sean Connery makes his second appearance in a row.  Terrorists led by Ed Harris have captured 15 chemical missles and have taken hostages on Alcatraz.  Sean Connery and Nick Cage have to stop them.

38.  The Patriot - This movie, starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger, takes place during the Revolutionary War.  It tells how the Americans defeated Cornwallis and the British.  Good Flick.

39.  Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark - Some would say this is the best of the Indiana Jones series.  This movie chronicals Indy's (Harrison Ford) search for the famous lost ark.  Siskel and Ebert voted it one of the ten best films of the 1980's.

40.  Tommy Boy - Anyone who doesn't like the comedy team of Chris Farley and David Spade does not deserve to watch this movie.

41.  Road to Perdition - Sam Mendes (director of American Beauty) directs this lesser known movie starring Tom Hanks.  The movie follows Hanks on his revenge mission to kill all the gangsters involved in the murder of his family.  It takes place during the roaring 20's.

42.  X-Men - My personal favorite comic book movie, X-Men stars Hugh Jackman and Halle Barry.  For some reason I find Rogue quite attractive.

43.  Seabiscuit - Starring Tobey Maguire, Chris Cooper, and Jeff Bridges, Seabiscuit is a story about an underachieving horse that ends up achieving more than anyone thought possible.

44.  The Shining - This classic thriller tells of a haunted hotel that turns a man into a psycho killer.  Jack Nicholson plays the leading roll, and his wife in the movie is super ugly.  "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!"

45.  Reservoir Dogs - The film that put Tarantino on the map, Reservoir Dogs shows us a robbery gone bad, and its aftermath.  One of the coolest actors, Steve Buscemi is in this film.

46.  Rudy - Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) stars in this sports tear jerker about an undersized kid who chases his dream to play football for the University of Notre Dame.  Bring tissues.

47.  Con Air - A super cool action film about a bunch of criminals taking over the plane that they are being carried on.  Starring John Malkovich and Nicolas Cage and again Steve Buscemi.

48.  Conspiracy Theory - Stars galore inclucing Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts.  Mel Gibson's character is chased by a branch of the government.  Crap...this movie is too hard to explain...come see it if you want to know more.

49.  Major League - Filmed in Milwaukee County Stadium, Major League is a classic comedy about a baseball team that rallies from the cellar to first place.  Bob Uecker makes this movie...if you don't know who Bob Uecker is you should be shot, and do not get this movie.

50.  Bruce Almighty - Jim Carrey makes his list debut when he aquires all of God's powers and uses them to make his life better, but ignores the needs of the general public.

51.  Jerry MaGuire - A chick flick about sports is hard to come by, but this would qualify.  Tom Cruise stars in this movie about an agent who grows a conscience and gets fired from his job, but makes ends meet with the one client that stays with him.  Cuba Gooding Jr. won best supporting actor, and he carries the movie.

52.  Happy Gilmore - To this day the golf swing of Happy Gilmore is the most imitated swing on the golf course.  Adam Sandler makes his debut on my list as a minor league hockey failure turned professional golfer.

53.  Rocky II - Traditionally, the Rocky sequals get worse and worse, however, this movie about the rematch between Sylvester Stallone and Apollo Creed is quite good.

54.  We Were Soldiers - Once again Mel Gibson stars in one of my films.  A three day battle in Vietnam is documented in this film.

55.  Predator - Arnold Schwarzzenager (screw spell check) makes his first and only appearance in my collection of movies.  An alien type creature terrorizes Arnolds military group, and he has to find a way to kill it or be killed.

56.  Tin Cup - Maybe could have been rated higher, Tin Cup is about a driving range pro who knows he's good enough to win the U.S. Open, and to steal his arch enemy's girlfriend.  Starring Kevin Costner and Cheech Marin

57.  Spiderman - The second of the comic book movies on the list, Spiderman stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker.  Spiderman has to put down crime and his nemesis The Green Goblin.

58.  House of Sand and Fog - The drama of dramas, this movie is about two people who somehow both end up claiming ownership to the same house.  This controversy has a tragic ending.  Definitely worth watching.  Starring Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly (she is amazingly gorgeous).

59.  Dumb and Dumber - Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels star in this flick about two insanely stupid guys trying to get to Aspen to return a briefcase to one of Carrey's limo passengers.

60.  The Bone Collector - Denzel Washington stars as a paraplegic detective in this film about a murder mystery.

61.  Boondock Saints - This violent film questions whether two people who murder criminals and bad people should be punishd.

62.  X2 - The second X-Men movie also stars Hugh Jackman and Halle Barry.  Rogue is still frickin hot.

63.  Face/Off - John Travolta stars as the detective and killer, and Nick Cage stars as the killer and dective in this film.  Too much to describe.  Email, call, or see me if you want to know more.

64.  Billy Madison - The owner of Madison hotels wants to pass the chain down to his son Billy (Adam Sandler) but first Billy has to complete elementry school, middle school, and high school.  Chris Farley plays the greatest bus driver in the history of cinema.

65.  Rocky IV - The final decent Rocky movie, Apollo Creed gets killed by a giant Russian boxer and Rocky Balboa vows to beat the Russian in the ring.

66.  Major Payne - Damon Wayans is a military killing machine not designed for his new job...training a junior R.O.T.C. team.

67.  Snatch - A great cast including Brad Pitt, Snatch is about the circling of a giant diamond.

68.  Analyze This - Comedy about a mafia gangster who needs therapy.  His therapist ends up getting too involved in the mafia's business.  Starring Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal.

69.  Liar Liar - Jim Carrey stars as a lawyer that doesn't spend enough time with his son.  His son wishes that his dad can't lie for entire day, and the day changes Carrey's whole view on life.

70.  Red Dragon - The prequal to The Silence of the Lambs.  See me if you want a better description.

71.  The Waterboy - The SCLSU Mud Dogs are a college football team on a terrible losing streak.  Adam Sandler comes along as the teams waterboy and ends up carrying the team to the national title when he decides to become a linebacker.

72.  Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - Finally, a movie where Jay and Silent Bob are the stars.  They have to track down the movie studio that is making a movie based off of their comic book characters Bluntman and Chronic, and destroy the production.

73.  Jurassic Park - A Steven Spielberg film about dinosaurs being raised on an island far in the ocean.  Another eventual trilogy that should have remained one movie.

74.  Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace - Although Liam Neeson (Qui Gon Gin) is awesome, this movie did not live up to the fame of the most famous trilogy of its time.

75.  The Last of the Mohicans - Daniel Day Lewis stars in this movie about indian wars and the extinction of the Mohican Tribe.

76.  Amistad - If the storyline wasn't so boring and long, this movie would be much better.  Anthony Hopkins, who was nominated for best supporting actor for this film, gives an amazing closing speech to the U.S. Supreme Court at the end of this movie.  Other than that, Amistad is kind of long.

77.  Ghostbusters - Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray star in this great 80s comedy.  The title of the movie explains the movie enough.

78.  Sum of All Fears - If you are a Ben Affleck person you may like this movie better than I did.  It stars Affleck and Morgan Freeman in a movie where they are trying to stop a terrorist attack on the United States.

79.  Rocky III - The fourth best of the Rocky movies, Rocky three pits Sylvester Stallone against Clubber Lang (Mr. T).  "What do you predict for this fight?"  "Pain".

80.  Pearl Harbor - A Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett chick flick.  Maybe watch this movie on a date...otherwise, leave it in my room.

81.  The Fast and the Furious - Car lovers and action fans will love this action thriller about the street racing scene.

82.  Changing Lanes - Samuel L. Jackson enhances any movie he is in, but even he can only drag Ben Affleck's sorry ass so far.  The movie is about two guys who both have problems after they crash on the freeway.

83.  Star Wars Episode II The Clone Wars - The one thing that makes this movie worth watching is getting to see Yoda fight with a light sabre.  Yoda rules.  "Kick some Dooku ass I will!"

84.  Matrix Reloaded - The sad middle chapter of a trilogy that should have been stopped after one movie.  If you are dying to know how the Matrix continues, I guess its cool to see this movie.

85.  Joe Dirt - Simple Humor starring David Spade as a country hick who lost his direction in life.  His girlfriend is amazingly hot though.

86.  Kingpin - More dumb humor in a movie about a bowling pro who got his hand chopped off.  Now he has to take an omish bowler to the PBA championship to make ends meat.  Worth a watch if you like a movie like Dumb and Dumber or Joe Dirt.

87.  Bio Dome - The only Pauly Shore movie that I will ever buy, Bio Dome is about two punks who get trapped an a greenhouse that is supposed to be completely sterile.

88.  My Cousin Vinny - The only comedy Joe Pesci was ever good in was Home Alone.  Best Supporting Actress Marissa Thome.

89.  Super Troopers - If you like stoner humor than you will love this movie.  It's not really my cup of tea, but some of you will love it.

90.  Rocky V - Rocky V will forever be at the bottom of my ratings of movies.  The sad end to the Rocky series that should not be viewed by anyone.  If you have to complete a dare to absolutely waste two hours of your time, then come and get it.

NOT YET RATED

A Few Good Men - Any movie with Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson has to be good.  "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth."

The Italian Job - My copy is too scratched to rent...Hopefully I'll have another one soon.

24 Season 1 - One of the greatest television series I have ever watched.  You will be completely hooked after 1 episode.

24 Season 2 - Awesome frickin show.
